Episode Transcript
[00:00:03] Hello. I'm Jana Harmon, the host of the side B podcast, and we are celebrating our one year anniversary. Our first episode dropped on October 30, 2020, and we are excited to say you are among many from all over the world who are tuning in. We have listeners from Australia and New Zealand to the european and scandinavian countries, to west and South Africa, to the UK, Canada, South America, and even the US. This is amazing. We are incredibly grateful to you. Thank you so much for making all of this happen.
[00:00:39] After starting a project like this podcast, especially in a year where podcasting virtually exploded, we are humbled that you count side B as worth your while, that you choose us amongst the sea of options. I hope you have been inspired, as I have, in hearing the journeys of these unlikely converts of atheism to Christianity. Their lives challenge all of us to look at our beliefs more closely, to diligently seek after truth, and to live in alignment with that truth, no matter the cost.
[00:01:12] I come away from each story with a greater desire to intentionally pursue life's biggest questions and to live for what's most important. And I hope you do too.
[00:01:24] Over the year, we've received some terrific reviews, like this one from Sir Edgar of Sussex in Great Britain, who says, I love this podcast. Ten years ago, I was baptized. Then I lost my faith. Completely followed paganism. Recently, I thought it wasn't for me. I kind of woke up feeling my faith was returning. Hearing Mike's story was just brilliant to listen to. It answered a lot of questions for me that I've had. So thanks and keep up the good work. You're more than welcome. And of course, he was referring to our very first podcast on Mike Arnold. Just an amazing story for anyone who hasn't listened to it. I encourage you to do that. Here's another terrific review from someone named Fly Hampton in the US who says, this podcast is refreshing. It's nice to hear an actual conversation on a topic that some find incendiary. Thank you, Jana. You're more than welcome. Sometimes these kinds of conversations are difficult to have or stories, but I do hope that this is a very easy podcast to listen to and one that that is not as adversarial.
[00:02:42] And finally, here's a review from Phoebe, also of the US, who says, finally, a faith based podcast that centers around personal story and redemption in an intellectual way. I'm a fan.
[00:02:57] Thank you for acknowledging that, Phoebe. Yes, I too am just so pleased that we're able to look at faith in all ways, including intellectually. Because at the end of the day, our worldviews are grounded in true belief, and so that's a very important thing, especially for those who are converting from atheism to Christianity. A matter of truth. So thank you for bringing that to the fore.
[00:03:26] It seems like these stories are as encouraging and insightful to you as they are to us, so please continue to give us your feedback. We love to hear from you.
[00:03:38] And just to let you know, our team at side B is in the process of developing some terrific new resources to go alongside our podcast. The side B stories website will provide short video testimonies of former atheists who became christians, and other resources as well. And the side B stories YouTube channel will house our podcast and video stories as well. So be on the lookout for these to come on board at the end of the year. And as a reminder, you can connect with us not only on email at cs lewisidebepodcast.com but also on our social media platforms, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. At the Sidebe podcast.
[00:04:24] I'd like also to take a moment to recognize my producer Ashley Decker and audio engineer Mark Rosara at the CS Lewis Institute for their Fantastic Work. And of course to the CS Lewis Institute for sponsoring us again. Thank you for helping us celebrate our one year anniversary, more than 100,000 downloads, a top 1% global global ranking, and especially celebrating you, our wonderful listeners. We genuinely appreciate you and look forward to bringing you more stories from the side b in the coming year. I hope you'll continue to join us.
